Chapter 2 · Life in the network

A walk through the city

How Oumafy works, from the first line you type to a venture with a team. Every place appears once.

The City of Support: a walled city with the Foundation at its centre and eight districts around it

The city at a glance

The picture above is the city as the app draws it. Each district is one part of the economy: law, marketing, builders, resources, ventures, communities, ideas and causes. The Foundation stands at the centre, held by every member.

The picture uses sample numbers, not the live network. The record of what is real today is in Chapter 3.

One passport, five places

Every member carries one passport. Around it sit five places. You do not have to use all five. Most people start in a room, and the rest follows.

Home is your day. Your Katib shows what changed, what waits on you, and one line where you say what you want.

Ideas is the Reel. Members post short videos of what they want to build. Others back the ones they would build with.

Community is the majlis. Rooms with a door: open, or knock to enter. You meet people inside a room, or you ask your Katib for the one you want.

Projects is the ventures. Each venture shows its team, what it is short of, and the work. You say I'm in to join one.

Governance is where the network decides. Matters, sealed votes, and the treasury in the open.

One story: an idea gets a team

Here is one path through the city. The member is an example. The steps are the real ones.

1. Ideas. Omar wants to start a halal pantry co-op. He films a short video and posts it on the Reel.

2. The crossing. Members who would build with him back the idea. Each backer is one verified person. At three backers the idea becomes a venture, and the backers come with it.

3. Projects. The venture page says what it is short of: a driver and a lawyer. The Hive brings it to members whose skills fit. They read the page and say I'm in.

4. Community. The venture carries its own majlis. The team talks there, and anyone can read what was said.

5. The passport. Everything Omar did goes on his passport: the idea, the venture, the people he built with. He carries it.

Your passport

The passport is free. It is not a profile page. It is a credential: who you are, what you can do, what you are looking for, and a record of what you did.

You are verified when your passport is complete and you are a real person. Verified costs nothing. It gives you a vote, lets your work earn Umafy, and brings a 1,000-Umafy welcome.

Money, plainly

Membership is free, and members are never the payers.

Every venture built through Oumafy agrees to the Rain Protocol. The Foundation gets a permanent 2.5% ownership stake, which later investment and new shares do not reduce. It also gets a 2.5% recurring contribution, set on profit or on revenue depending on the business.

Umafy is the network's own currency. You earn it for real work. You cannot buy it.

The Foundation holds shared assets and income. Every treasury decision is made in the open.
