Much of what passes for Islamic finance today follows form without substance. Conventional instruments are restructured with Arabic terminology, interest is repackaged under permissible-sounding names, and compliance is achieved through legal technicality rather than genuine adherence to the principles of the Quran and Sunnah.

The growing distrust among Muslims toward so-called Sharia-compliant funds is not cynicism — it is discernment. When a fund's compliance depends on the very mechanisms it claims to prohibit, something fundamental is broken.
